Review: Flora & Curl – Leave In Detangler & Shampoo

Last year Flora & Curl launched with a bang. (You can see my Video tutorial and in depth Review) Sliding into the naturel hair community, the brand offered something new and exciting, putting their au natural ingredients at the front line. And now I had that same excitement trying some of their newest products to date. A brand that knew what it’s curly customers were seeking. I have had the pleasure of working with Flora & Curl because I genuinely love their products and ethos, Rose, the founder is an inspiration to independent black business women and to be able to support that has been rewarding!

After launching three core products last year, Flora & Curl now have three more to show off. I was able to try two of these, the Leave in detangler & the shampoo. It’s great to see that these products are born out of customer feedback showing Flora & Curl listens to it’s customers and delivers.

Organic Rose & Honey Milk Detangler

Rose & Honey sounded like a dream combo, but to my surprise this leave in delivered more then I expected. Some more info:

A botanical detangling conditioner that adds softness and slip to hair to release knots and tangles to make combing and styling manageability easier. It also serves as a leave-in moisturiser with a blend of Coconut and Calendula Oils, perfect for restoring hair’s healthy moisture balance.

This moisturising leave-in conditioner is powerfully fortified with Organic Rose Damask Water, and infused with Honey, Sunflower, Oat, Marigold and Vitamin B to smoothen the cuticle, add shine, definition and ease manageability, whilst promoting hair softness.

“A little goes a long way” – my favourite line to hear in a review and its safe to say its the case for this leave in. It’s very creamy and light weight for my finer curls, depending on how thick your hair is this leave in still has your back. It’s soft upon application and sinks into the hair instantly giving aaloott of slip and bounce. My curls spring back up when I smooth the cream in. I really like to work it in and stay away from the roots. The consistency is not too thick and is very water based. My overall thoughts about this leave in come really from my actions, as this has instantly become ingrained in my everyday routine. I’s been great for daily use (I style my hair every 2 -3 days) so buildup is minimum. It leaves my hair shiney as hell, bouncy and very moisturised.

African Citrus Superfruit Shampoo

I was in the need for a new shampoo when this came into my life. And to smell the superfuit in a shampoo is a dream come from. Just like the oil this is very heavily scented. It’s great for that morning wash and waking yourself up.

This nutrient-rich botanical shampoo creates a deeply invigorating lather to cleanse hair and scalp and rid it of impurities, dirt and build up. It is fortified with moisturising Aloe Vera, revitalising oils of Morrocan Argan Oil and Sweet Almond Oil to restore the natural balance of the scalp and return natural sheen.

A nutritive blend of coconut-derived cleansers, strengthening wheat proteins and scalp balancing citrus oils all work to leave scalp feeling fresh, clean, and fragrant! Unlike conventional shampoo, it is 100% free from drying silicones, mineral oils or sulfates.

Some great natural ingredients, free from all those drying chemicals we find in our shampoos and cleansers again and again. The shampoo was great to see that this still lathers slightly, as I like my shampoos to do so! This shampoo leaves the scalp feeling fresh, I feel like scalp is clean but not too stripped. It is very watery and transparent and works well to get the scalp a rejuvenated feeling. Because I don’t get much build up I don’t even have to use a shampoo too much which is great! but this gentle all natural shampoo is what I have needed when I do need to freshen up my scalp reading for a clean styling.

I am over the moon with both these products. I couldn’t be happier to use them and incorporate them into my daily routine. If you want to see the results I did a fun unboxing and first impression over on my Instagram (In my highlights) Go check that out! ALSO as an ambassador I have a discount code for you all! use ‘EMMASCURLS at the checkout to get 10% (minimum spend £25) if you haven’t tried Flora & Curl why not?!
