It has only been recent that I have completely changed my skincare routine. For over the past year my skincare featured exclusively Liz Earle cleanse and polish and the moisturiser for combination skin. However, this year I had an itch to try some new things and go back to some old faves. And while this isn’t a routine I can promise won’t change next month, it’s what I have been using for at least over a month and have seen for the first time actual change in my skin texture and appearance. Therefore I thought it would make sense to share with you all what my routine is and why my skin has been loving these products.
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
Some months back I boarded the Glossier hype train and fell into a spell of using the Milky Jelly Cleanser routinely. I liked the texture and It felt cool on the skin as well as being fun to massage in. It seemed like a simple product. And while I didn’t see anything wow inducing, for me It cleans my face in the morning and does the job just right. When this finished though, I think I would like to go back on the market for a new cleanser..
Pixi Glow Tonic
The Tonic is something I have recently come back to and I don’t know why I ever abandoned it in the first place. Using a cotton pad I sweep this across my whole face. I can’t do my routine without toning or my face just doesn’t feel complete. It gets rid of any dirt and tones the face perfectly giving me a glow. Yep thats right, It does give a subtle glow!
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
The newest edition to my skincare and a welcome one too. Much as been raved about The Ordinary and rightly so with its price point and breadth of products to choose from. What was once closed off to the ordinary person (hint, hint) is now in every girls skincare routine in 2018. Going in store I was clueless, still am If I am honest. But I explained my skin problems, pores & blackheads and I was given this as a possible solution. When I say this has worked, it really has. I don’t want to go on too long but this has reduced my blackheads and under the skin bumps so much I could cry with happiness. I plan to buy more from The Ordinary and if I get a good collection I will revisit in a blog post dedicated to the brand!
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturiser
Origins is a brand I wish I could afford more of. A couple of years back when I was feeling fancy and obsessed with skincare I purchased this beauty. Fast forward to 2018 I bought it again because I loved the texture and smell. But if I am being honest it doesn’t leave my skin hydrated enough which is another of my skin problems. Therefore this will be swapped out as soon as I finish. Not to say this isn’t good, it is! just my skin is feeling dry after and I don’t think The Ordinary serum helps. In comparison to the Liz Earle, it does not give me that prolonged moisture my skins needs.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm/Oil
Incase you didn’t know this is a my night and day routine. To remove my make up I was using the balm for a longgg time. But recently I wanted to spice it up and use the oil version instead. I have no stand out thoughts on the difference but the product overall is amazing and has been a staple in my routine for years now. There really is no better way to take off your make up then with a balm or oil in my opinion.
To sum everything up, my routine is by far not perfect. However, I’ve seen some noticeable changes and hope with some tweaks I can meet all my skin problems with affordable solutions. I’ll be trying some more moisturisers and more Ordinary serums. The under eye area is something I would like to work on too and maybe those lim balm 8-hour treatments I should look into more. We will see…
